Kayla Klosterhoff studied Fine Art Painting at Purdue University. Her early work focused on representational, expressionist portraits while experimenting with acrylic, oil, encaustic and cold wax mediums.

After several years living in Atlanta, she moved to St. Louis in Spring 2020 during the initial height of the pandemic. Her time spent outdoors running and hiking ignited an appreciation for the natural beauty and rich history of St. Louis and its surroundings.

Kayla’s work is motivated by the fundamental power of color. Her process is focused on exploring how color can be used to awaken energy, memories, and awareness. She uses a range of mediums and techniques to evoke an appreciation of places and objects that are often overlooked as mundane in the hustle of our distracted lives.
